Wildwood Neighborhood Park Lynnmere Trail Loop

START TIME – We’ll meet at 7:30 a.m. in the baseball diamond parking lot (see below) NOTE: The weather.com forecast in Thousand Oaks is “Some clouds in the morning will give way to mainly sunny skies for the afternoon. High near 75F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph. (and a low of 55 degrees early in the morning)” – Sunrise is at 6:55 AM.

DESCRIPTION OF HIKE: This hike begins at Wildwood Neighborhood Park just east of Wildwood Regional Park. The Park trail crosses under Avenida de Los Arboles through a tunnel, up some stairs and over a bridge crossing the Arroyo Conejo. We then walk a short distance through a neighborhood to Las Flores Trail connecting to Lynn Rd. We walk (120) yards then go west on Lynnmere trail and follow it to Wildwood Canyon trail and head east back to the Neighborhood Park and to our vehicles.

PREPAREDNESS: Bring 2-3 liters/quarts of water (or other suitable liquid) and lunch/snack. Wear appropriate footwear (preferably hiking boots) and be prepared for bright sunlight (sunglasses), heat (layers of clothing), and/or precipitation (rain gear). Hiking pole(s) and a camera might come in handy.

DIRECTIONS TO THE TRAILHEAD FROM SIMI VALLEY – NOTE: You should be at the trailhead (see below) by 7:30 a.m.

o In Simi Valley, take Highway 118 to Madera Road.

o Take Madera Road south past Wood Ranch where the road’s name changes to Olsen Road; continue on Olsen Road under Highway 23.

o Drive past California Lutheran University on Olsen Road.

o About 1.5 miles beyond the university, turn right (west) on Avenida de Los Arboles (Olsen Road’s name changes to Lynn Road just before you turn).

o Drive 0.2 mile west on Avenida de Los Arboles and turn right on Canna Street.

o Park your vehicle at the baseball field parking, directly to your left and wait for the hiking leader(s). Reference (2819 Canna Street, Thousand Oaks, CA)
