Sapwi Park to Chumash Indian Museum and Back

DESCRIPTION OF HIKE:

(Easy 4.3 miles RT w/340’ of elevation gain/loss)

The hike begins at Sapwi Trails Community Park and heads north east on an open space service road surrounded with trees.  We hike past Swapi Bike Park and Disk Golf course and continue until the trail ends at the intersection of N Westlake Blvd. and Lang Ranch Pkwy. We will cross the street and walk to and through Lang Ranch Park to the Chumash Indian Museum, then continue on to the Chumash Indian village.

PREPAREDNESS: Bring 2-3 liters/quarts of water (or other suitable liquid) and lunch/snack.  Wear appropriate footwear (preferably hiking boots) and be prepared for bright sunlight (sunglasses), heat (layers of clothing), and/or precipitation (rain gear).  Hiking pole(s) and a camera might come in handy.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS TO THE GATHERING POINT (NOTE: be sure to arrive at the trailhead by 8:00 AM ):

o   Take the Highway 23 exit to Avenida De Los Arboles and go east.
o   Head east .6 miles and turn right (south) on Erbes Rd..
o   Head South and turn left (east) on Avenida De Las Flores.
o   Make a quick right into Sapwi Trails Community Park parking lot.
o   Reference: 2100 Scenicpark St. Thousand Oaks
o   Wait for the hike leader(s).
