DESCRIPTION OF HIKE: Moderate/Strenuous About 4.7 miles with about 1,350’ of elevation gain/loss. This trail climbs steadily from its trailhead near the entrance to Hummingbird Ranch in Simi Valley to its junction with the Rocky Peak Fire Road, passing through a variety of imposing sandstone rock formations along the way and providing sweeping views of the east end of Simi Valley and the Simi Hills. There’s also an optional short (but steep) extension uphill-and-back spur trail on the east side of the fire road before we return the way we came.
PREPAREDNESS: Bring 2-3 liters/quarts of water (or other suitable liquid) and lunch/snack. Wear appropriate footwear (preferably hiking boots) and be prepared for bright sunlight (sunglasses), heat (layers of clothing), and/or precipitation (rain gear). Hiking pole(s) and a camera might come in handy.
