MWM - Los Robles Trail via Oak Creek Trail Counterclockwise Loop

START TIME – We’ll meet at 7:00 AM at the starting point of the hike along Los Padres Drive in Thousand Oaks (see below). NOTE: Sunrise is at 6:25 AM.
DESCRIPTION OF HIKE: This loop hike begins by taking the Oak Creek Loop Trail. Then the Oak Creek Canyon Whole Access Interpretive Trail to a connector trail that leads us to the Los Robles Trail. We hike to the highest point in the outing which is the Conejo Valley Scenic Overlook (where there’s a bench) which provides panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and grasslands. Connect back to the Los Robles Trail and then connect onto the Los Padres Trail where it descends through an oak woodland back to our vehicles.
PREPAREDNESS: Bring 2-3 liters/quarts of water (or other suitable liquid) and lunch/snack. Wear appropriate footwear (preferably hiking boots) and be prepared for bright sunlight (sunglasses), heat (layers of clothing), and/or precipitation (rain gear). Hiking pole(s) and a camera might come in handy.
DIRECTIONS TO THE TRAILHEAD FROM SIMI VALLEY: – NOTE: You should be at the trailhead (see below) by 7:00 AM. Mainly sunny. High 83F. Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph.
o Head south (toward Thousand Oaks) on Highway 23 and drive to its intersection with Hwy 101.
o Head “north” (toward Ventura) on Highway 101 and stay in the right-hand lane.
Immediately take the Moorpark Road exit; get in the left lane on the exit ramp.
o Turn left (south) onto Moorpark Road and get in the right-hand lane as you pass under Hwy 101; drive 0.35 mile to Los Padres Drive.
o Turn left (east) on Los Padres Drive and drive about 100 yards.
