–
July 26, 2025
(4.6 miles total with 750’ of elevation gain/loss).
START TIME – We’ll meet at 7:30 AM at the starting point of the hike along Los Padres Drive in Thousand Oaks (see below).
DESCRIPTION OF HIKE: This double-loop hike begins on the Los Padres Trail as it climbs through an oak woodland into the hills south of Thousand Oaks. After it meets the Los Robles Trail, we hike to the highest point in the outing which is the Conejo Valley Scenic Overlook (where there’s a bench) which provides panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and grasslands. We’ll continue west on the Los Robles Trail until its intersection with a connector trail which will lead us to the Oak Creek Loop Trail. When we complete the Oak Creek Loop Trail, we’ll continue on the connector trail to the south end of Moorpark Road and then continue a short distance to our vehicles.
PREPAREDNESS: Bring 2-3 liters/quarts of water (or other suitable liquid) and lunch/snack. Wear appropriate footwear (preferably hiking boots) and be prepared for bright sunlight (sunglasses), heat (layers of clothing), and/or precipitation (rain gear). Hiking pole(s) and a camera might come in handy.
