Wildwood Park Loop
5 Mile loop – Moderate (750′ elevation gain)
DIRECTIONS to TRAILHEAD: Take Madera Road south past Wood Ranch where the road’s name changes to Olsen Road Continue west on Olsen road under Highway 23 and then past California Lutheran University (at the Moorpark Road intersection). Continue 1.5 miles on Olsen Road beyond the university. Turn right (west) on Avenida de los Arboles (Olsen Road’s name changes to Lynn Road just before you turn). Drive 0.9 mile and turn left into the large dirt parking lot.
Our hike will begin along the Mesa Trail as it heads west across the grassy plateau. Soon we’ll jog southward to the Stagecoach Bluff Trail which provides views down into Wildwood Canyon. After rejoining the Mesa Trail we’ll ascend to Lizard Rock, the highest point on our hike. As our hike continues, we’ll drop down into Wildwood Canyon and pass through the Oak Grove picnic area on our way to Paradise Falls. Then we’ll continue eastward on the Wildwood Canyon and Indian Creek Trails to the original trailhead. Most of the second half of our route is shaded and the falls are photogenic (given normal annual rainfall).
