Wildwood Park Loop
WILDWOOD PARK LOOP HIKE (4.8 miles w/850’ of elevation gain/loss -OR- ~3.0 miles w/~350′ of elevation gain/loss)
START TIME: We’ll meet at 7:00 AM at the Wildwood Park dirt parking lot in Thousand Oaks (directions below). NOTE: Sunrise is at 5:57 AM.
DESCRIPTION OF HIKE: This loop hike follows the Mesa Trail to the Stagecoach Bluff Trail to the Lizard Rock Trail to the Wildwood Canyon Trail to Paradise Falls and then to the Indian Creek Trail. The total distance is about 4.8 miles with 850’ of elevation gain/loss and much of the second half of the hike is shaded.
PREPAREDNESS: Bring 2-3 liters/quarts of water (or other suitable liquid) and lunch/snack. Wear appropriate footwear (preferably hiking boots) and be prepared for bright sunlight (sunglasses), heat (layers of clothing), and/or precipitation (rain gear). Hiking pole(s) and a camera might come in handy.
DRIVING DIRECTIONS TO THE TRAILHEAD (NOTE: be sure to arrive at the trailhead by 7:00 AM):
o In Simi Valley, take Highway 118 to Madera Road.
o Take Madera Road south past Wood Ranch where the road’s name changes to Olsen Road; continue on Olsen Road under Highway 23.
o Drive past California Lutheran University on Olsen Road.
o About 1.5 miles beyond the university, turn right (west) on Avenida de Los Arboles (Olsen Road’s name changes to Lynn Road just before you turn).
o Drive 0.8 mile west on Avenida de Los Arboles and turn left into the large dirt parking lot.
o Park and wait for the leader(s).
