Wildwood Neighborhood Park Lynnmere Trail Loop
DESCRIPTION OF HIKE: This hike begins at Wildwood Neighborhood Park just east of Wildwood Regional Park. The Park trail crosses under Avenida de Los Arboles through a tunnel, up some stairs and over a bridge crossing the Arroyo Conejo. We then walk a short distance through a neighborhood to the Las Flores Trail connecting to Lynn Rd. We walk 120 yards and then go west on the Lynnmere trail and follow it to the Wildwood Canyon trail and then head east back to the Neighborhood Park to our vehicles. (4.9 miles w/775’ elevation gain/loss)
PREPAREDNESS: Bring 2-3 liters/quarts of water (or other suitable liquid) and lunch/snack. Wear appropriate footwear (preferably hiking boots) and be prepared for bright sunlight (sunglasses), heat (layers of clothing), and/or precipitation (rain gear). Hiking pole(s) and a camera might come in handy.
DIRECTIONS TO THE TRAILHEAD FROM SIMI VALLEY
- In Simi Valley, take Highway 118 to Madera Road.
- Take Madera Road south past Wood Ranch where the road’s name changes to Olsen Road; continue on Olsen Road under Highway 23.
- Drive past California Lutheran University on Olsen Road.
- About 1.5 miles beyond the university, turn right (west) on Avenida de Los Arboles (Olsen Road’s name changes to Lynn Road just before you turn).
- Drive 0.2 mile west on Avenida de Los Arboles and turn right on Canna Street.
- Park your vehicle at the baseball field parking, directly to your left and wait for the hiking leader(s). (2819 Canna Street, Thousand Oaks, CA)
