Regularly Scheduled Hikes
(Hikes are canceled if it rains. There are no hikes on holidays.)

Sunday Evening - Rocky Peak
Meet at 4 PM at the Rocky Peak trailhead at the end of Rocky Peak Road on the Santa Susana Pass.
(Meet at 5 PM during daylight savings time.) (Strenuous - 4.8 MRT)

Tuesday Evening - Long Canyon
Meet at 6:30 PM in the Long Canyon parking lot. Directions: Take First Street South. Continue when the road's name changes to Long Canyon Road. The parking lot is at the intersection of Long Canyon Road and Wood Ranch Parkway. (Easy to Moderate - 3.0 MRT)

Thursday Evening - The Chumash Trail
Meet at 6 PM at Chumash trailhead. Directions: Take the 118 Freeway to Yosemite exit. Go north on Yosemite and turn right on Flanagan Dr. The trailhead is at the end of Flanagan Drive. (Moderate to Strenuous - 5.2 MRT)

July 5th
Rocky Peak (via the Hummingbird Trail)
8 MRT - Moderate to Strenuous (1750' elevation gain)
Meet at 8 AM at the trailhead. From Highway 118 Simi Valley Freeway, exit on Kuehner Drive and go north. Trailhead is on the right. Bring 2 quarts of water and lunch. Wear boots.
OPTION: Continue on the Rocky Peak fire road, down the Chumash Trail and then on a lesser-known trail back to the Hummingbird Ranch trailhead. (adds about 2.5 miles)

July 10th - 13th
Onion Valley Backpack Trip*
5.6 MRT - Moderate (1200' elevation gain)

This very special event is limited to Trailblazer members only. This backpack has some of the most beautiful lakes and flower covered meadows in the whole Southeastern Sierra. The trailhead is at 9,200'. Well set up our base camp at Flower Lake (10,420'). From there, we can dayhike to several picturesque lakes. The more adventurous can climb Kearsarge Peak (11,823'). Wilderness Permit spaces are limited, so email Mark to reserve your place. The permit cost is $5 per person. We'll hit the trail the morning of the 11th and camp the night before at the nearby Onion Valley Campground.

July 19th
Solstice Canyon Loop*
3 to 6 MRT - Easy to moderate (500' to 1000' elevation gain)
Beautiful creek, 30 ft waterfall, mysterious ruins, hidden statue, and ocean views. Meet at 8 AM near Donut Delite, at the corner of Madera and Royal. Bring 2 - 3 quarts of water, a snack and bug juice. Wear boots.

July 26th
Palm Springs to Mt. San Jacinto via the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway* No dogs allowed on this trail
11 MRT - Moderate (2300' elevation gain)
This is an all day event. Please click here for more information about the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. Please click here for more information about the hike to the peak. We'll leave the 118 & Stearns St. Park & Ride at 6:30 in the morning, and arrive at the tramway mid-morning. We'll head on home that same afternoon/evening. The tram costs are outlined on their website. With at least 10 people in attendance, our group rate is $20.10 per person. Bring sturdy boots, at least 3 quarts of water, trail snacks, sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat and a windbreaker.

August 2nd
Ray Miller / La Jolla Valley Loop*
6.5 MRT - Moderate. (1000' elevation gain)
We will start and finish at the Ray Miller Trailhead. Meet at 8 AM near Donut Delite at the corner of Madera and Royal. Bring 2 -3 quarts of water, a snack and bug juice. Wear Boots.

August 8th - 10th
Big Bear Weekend*
This very special event is limited to Trailblazer members only. Hiking at its best in the mountains above Big Bear Lake. Space is limited, so please email Mark to make reservations. We will be sharing a member's luxury condo in Big Bear Lake. Planned hikes are the Pine Knot Trail, Gray's Peak and maybe a hike up the Cougar Crest Trail and then on to Bertha Peak. August 16th
Carpinteria Bluffs*
5 MRT - Easy
A beautiful walk overlooking the ocean along the bluffs above Carpinteria. Meet at 8 AM, near Donut Delite on the corner of Madera and Royal. Bring 1 to 2 quarts of water and lunch.

August 20th

August 23rd
Sycamore Canyon Shuttle*
8 Miles - Moderate one way (1200' elevation loss)
This eight mile, one-way shuttle hike to the ocean is all down hill. When we get to the beach, we'll have lunch. We'll plan the logistics of the shuttle once the event draws near. You can find more information about this hike by clicking here. You must send email here to reserve your space on the shuttle. Reservations must be made and confirmed no later than August 20th. Meet at 8 AM near Donut Delite at the corner of Madera and Royal. Bring two quarts of water and lunch. Wear Boots.

August 30th
Upper Zuma Canyon*
5 MRT - Moderate
Hike down into Upper Zuma Canyon. Meet at 8 AM near Donut Delite at the corner of Madera and Royal. Bring 2 to 3 quarts of water and a snack. Wear boots.

September 6th
Bicycle Ride - Ojai Valley Trail* - Ventura River (17 MRT)

September 9th - 14th
Zion National Park & Camping Trip*No dogs allowed at this event.
This very special event is limited to Trailblazer members only. Reservations are limited and close on September 3rd. Send email to Mark to make your reservation. This trip is for the entire family. You may join in on the yet to be planned hikes, or simply enjoy the sights. We will be tent camping at the Watchman Campground. There is a non-refundable campground fee, shared equally among all those who sign up. Please plan to arrive the afternoon of September 10th. There is also a $20 per car park entry fee. Please note this is the week after Labor Day, so the droves of holiday weekend campers will be gone! Click here for a wealth of Zion National Park information. September 27th
Mt. Islip*
5 MRT - Moderate (1100' elevation gain)
Hike through pine and fir forests with panoramic views of the Mojave Desert and the LA metropolis. An Adventure Pass is required at the trailhead parking lot. Meet at 8 AM at the 118 & Stearns St. Park & Ride. Bring 2 - 4 quarts of water and lunch. Wear boots.

October 4th
Point Dume Beach Walk*
6 MRT - Easy (250' elevation gain)
A fine hike along the beach, up to the bluffs and then on to the tide pools. Meet at 8 AM near Donut Delite at the corner of Madera and Royal. Bring 2 to 3 quarts of water and a snack. Wear boots.

October 11th
Camp Three Falls to Lilly Meadows*
6 MRT - Moderate (1,075' elevation gain)
Beautiful area with a waterfall about half way up. Bring lunch, water and wear boots. Click here for more information about this hike. For those looking for a bit of a workout, there is an option of adding some mileage by taking the trail on up to Sheep Camp. Meet at 8 AM at the Stearns Street Park & Ride. Bring 2 - 3 quarts of water and lunch. Wear sturdy boots.

Santa Cruz Island - Scorpion Anchorage to Smuggler's Cove*
9 MRT - Moderate (1,600' elevation gain)
This very special event is limited to Trailblazer members only. The Island trip is one of our most popular hikes. We will be traveling to Santa Cruz Island aboard an Island Packers boat. A wealth of information about what to expect can be found on their website. Space is limited for this event. Your reservation and payment must be received no later than September 8th. We have secured a group discount rate. The cost is $44 per person, for the day, or $60 if you elect to stay overnight at the Scorpion Cove campground. Due to the event's popularity, it's a good idea to make your reservation early to be sure your space on the boat is confirmed. Please send email to Mark to make your reservation. Click here for more information about the hike. We'll meet at 6:30 AM near Donut Delight on the corner of Madera and Royal. We must be at the Island Packers dock no later than 7:30. The boat will be back for us at 4 PM. The boat trip takes about an hour. On the way, we will see dolphin pods and possibly some whales.
